Kum. Tallapragada Geetika Vagdevi, daughter of Smt. Arunaji & Sriman Srinivasa Raoji, a 7th class student of Bhashyam Public School, Vizianagaram, inspired by the service done by JET & VT to visually challenged students at Samshabad, made up her mind to collect & donate funds to Netra Vidyalaya (Vizianagaram) every year on her birthday which falls on Vijaya Dasami. Last year, she collected & donated Rs. 33000/-. This year, she achieved an incredible feat of collecting & donating Rs. 212,626/- which is truly remarkable & inspirational.
In her own words, she says: "I observed the environment and way of people around me. People's distress moved me always. When I visited the blind school, Vizianagaram with my parents, I found that the students there though blind possess the same talent - knowledge, mind power etc., They are capable of preparing Candles, Wire Bags & Paper Bags etc., They can Sing, Dance and to our surprise they can play cricket by locating the ball as per sounds. They can operate computers also. One blind student Sriman Ramesh was selected for singing competition & got first prize in MAA TV (Ralare Rala) and got 3rd prize in ETV (Black) and he was also selected to act in one movie.
The first blind degree college in the world at Samshabad, Hyderabad run by H.H Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji i.e., Jeeyar Educational Trust where the students are giving their exams on laptop without assistance of Scribe inspired me.
The cent percent results of their exams are another proof of their talent and capabilities. Already one student got railway job.
So, I made up my mind to collect and donate some funds to this Netra Vidyalaya (School for Blind) at Vizianagaram. Every year on my birthday which falls on Vijaya Dasami. Last year I donated Rs.33,000/- compressed of my own savings and donations. Now I request everyone to support them by donating your might with a positive thinking of encouraging and helping." |
